Jobie Scholarships

To all Idaho Bethels:

Enclosed is the information regarding Grand Guardian Council Educational Awards for 2007.  Please make copies of the information packet for any eligible members of your Bethel who are interested in receiving help with the cost of attending college.

Also, please double check to make certain that the funds from each Honored Queen’s project have been sent to the Grand Secretary.  If the funds do not get sent, this could make the members of your Bethel ineligible for an Award, and reduce the number of Awards available.

Here are the details:
1.         Educational Awards are in the amount of $500 each.  The number of Awards granted can change each year depending on the total amount available from the Grand Guardian Council Education Awards Fund.
2.         Those eligible for the Awards are Job’s Daughters in good standing who are high school seniors or already attending college, and Majority Members who are under 30 years of age.
3.         Awards are given for continuing education in either a vocational institution or an academic school, such as a two-year or four-year college or university.  It is possible to receive a second Award if you have already received one.
4.         Complete application packages must be postmarked no later than May 19, 2007, and sent to the address at the bottom of this letter.  The change of the deadline date for 2007 has been approved by the Grand Guardian.
5.         Checks will be issued by the Grand Secretary to the award winners when she receives proof of enrollment.

An application package is included with this letter.  Please carefully review the package because a complete application package must contain the application form, a 300-word essay, a transcript, the Bethel Guardian Council form, and two references.  The application may be disqualified if it is not completely filled out and signed.  The essay topic for this year is:  Majority Members can be a tremendous asset to a Bethel.  Please share your ideas about the ways that Majority Members could assist and strengthen Bethels, particularly in the areas of membership and promotion, other than serving as a council member.

If you know a Bethel member who is not present at this meeting or not currently active in your Bethel, and who might be interested in applying for an Educational Award, please make sure she is provided with a copy of the application information.  Also, please think carefully and contact any Daughters who have already left for college or Majority Members who may be eligible for an Award, to be sure that they are given the opportunity to apply for an Educational Award.

The winners of the Educational Awards will be announced at Grand Session in June.

I look forward to seeing all of you at Grand Session in Idaho Falls.

Jobie love,

Linda R. Roblee, PHQ, PGG
Chairman, Educational Awards Committee
