A NOTE TO ALL BETHELS:

To all Bethels and Bethel Guardian Councils:

Enclosed in the packet that was mailed to the Bethels, you will find all the information and entry forms necessary to enter the Grand Bethel competitions in Twin Falls. PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS INFORMATION AS THERE ARE CHANGES FROM YEAR TO YEAR! The hot pink section and the yellow section contain summary forms that must be mailed by May 1, 2010, but they go to different people. Due to the large number of entries, please make sure your forms are complete and on time. Those Bethels whose entries are not postmarked by May 1, 2010, will have their Executive Guardian Councils fined $25.00, and competitions will not be scheduled until such fine is paid. Preference in scheduling is given in the order the packets are received.

Please note on the summary sheet the fees to enter Ritual, Music, and Dance competitions. The Grand Bethel Advisory Board voted for the fees as follows: 1 girl competing = $3.00. 2-4 girls competing = $6.00. 5 or more girls (including whole bethel competitions) = $10.00. As occurred in past years, these fees will no longer be refunded, which will help cover the expenses of trophies and medallions. As before, the fees should be totaled on the COMPETITION SUMMARY SHEET and submitted with a Bethel check. If there is a problem with a competition and you contact me before June 1, there is a possibility that a refund could be made. There will be no changes in competition schedules after June 1st unless they involve brand new members from a recent initiation. Please respect this deadline.

You will notice that the judging sheets for competitions are not included in this packet. They will be available online on our Idaho Job’s Daughters website. (www.jobsdaughters.org) You may download and print them if you choose or a Daughter may access them herself.

We always seem to have a number of Daughters who do not show up or who cancel their competitions. Please discuss with your Daughters the responsibility that comes with registering for a competition and encourage them to follow through on commitments. We would like to adhere to a NO CANCELLATION philosophy. If it is unavoidable and a Daughter must cancel, the Daughter or her Guardian should go to the Competition Chairperson personally and cancel.

As in previous years, we ask that Bethels submit adult names of those who will be available to judge competitions. These people will be contacted by the Competition Chairperson if they are needed and given the necessary information.

Competitions are tentatively scheduled to be held
            Wednesday, June 23     10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
            Thursday, June 24               8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Also enclosed is the paperwork for the drawing for Grand Bethel Officers and Representatives. A Daughter must be an HQ, a PHQ, or 14 years of age to have her name in the drawing for a Grand Bethel Officer position. A Daughter must be an HQ, a PHQ, or 13 years of age, or a Daughter under the age of 13 who has a letter of intent and who has attended at least one Annual Meeting of Grand Bethel to have her name in the drawing for a Grand Bethel Representative position. (Please also make note of any other eligibility requirements in the Grand Bethel section of the white book.) Discuss the privileges and responsibilities of these positions with your Daughters so that they know what is involved if they are drawn. Please do not enter a girl’s name unless you know she is interested in taking the position. It is disheartening to have Daughters decline once they have been drawn.

There is something new this year:  Instead of having several letters of intent that all need to be signed by a parent there is now one letter.  This one letter will be signed by the parents and Daughter and have places to check for the following positions: Supreme Messenger Team, Grand Bethel Senior Princess and Grand Bethel Representative for a Daughter under the age of 13.

Note to current Grand Bethel Officers: Opening parts will be mailed to all Grand Bethel Officers later in the spring to be used at the Grand Bethel meetings. Grand Bethel will be performing the Royal Purple Degree this year, and those parts will be mailed at the same time. Both parts need to be memorized. Grand Bethel Officers and Representatives must plan to attend all practices and bring their official regalia to Session.

Bethel Guardian Councils: Please discuss the Grand Bethel Dress code with all those planning to attend Grand Session. There were some changes to the dress code this year.  The Grand Bethel Advisory Board, at the request of many of our Idaho Daughters, decided that our dress code will be enforced at Grand Session this year. This pertains to all in attendance.

I am looking forward to seeing all of you in Twin Falls. The Session Arrangements Committee is working hard to offer us a wonderful time. Make your plans now to attend.

And one last time: The deadline for submitting your competition registrations is May 1, 2010.

Jobie love,

Mary Jane Muncy, PBG, RP

Grand Bethel Chairman
