ANNUAL JOB'S DAUGHTER
SHRINE HOSPITAL CARAVAN

MAY 28-30, 2011

JOB'S DAUGHTERS CARAVANERS:

The “2011” Job’s Daughters Shrine Hospital Caravan is set to begin from Boise and Pocatello, Idaho on May 28th.  Please check the schedule on another page for your area.  Try not to be late so that we can get lined up and meet at the scheduled times.

This year is a special year since Idaho is hosting a reception for Rick Holloway, Associate Supreme Guardian.  We will have a combined meal with the Utah Masonic Family at 3:00 P.M. in the Lagoon Canyon Pavilion.  There will be some introductions and announcements during the meal time.  Idaho will be providing a dessert of some kind in honor of Rick Holloway, Jim Day, Associate Supreme Bethel Guardian; and Karen Musselman, Supreme First Messenger.

This is an ideal function to bring prospective members to in order for them to experience some of the FUN that Jobies have.  It is also an excellent opportunity for all Jobies to meet and spend time with other Jobies from around the state in a Fun Filled atmosphere.

For over two decades the Idaho Job’s Daughter Caravan has traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah to have FUN and demonstrate our support for the staff and patients at the Shrine Hospital.  All funds after expenses are donated to the hospital, which operates on donations alone.  The donation is made at a special ceremony during our visit on Sunday.  All Bethels are encouraged to participate and showcase Idaho Job’s Daughter’s strong support of the Hospital Staff and the children they serve.

Caravan fee is $65.00 per person.  This fee entitles you to:
            1-2011 Caravan Pin/Charm
            1-Caravan t-shirt
1-All day pass to Lagoon (all rides and Water Park included)
2-nights camping at Lagoon campground (designated tent area only)
            2-All-You-Can-Eat meals (Sat & Sun)

Please NOTE the camp spots I get are non hook-up spots (tent area).  If full hook-ups are desired call ahead and reserve your own spot.  You are responsible for the cost of your spot.  I will not cover the cost of full hook-ups at Lagoon Campground. Make reservations (at your own expense) near the tent area to be close to the rest of Caravan.

Remember to bring a dress for the Hospital visit and tour on Sunday.  Also remember that we are representing Job’s Daughters at Lagoon, and Jobie appropriate clothing (Adults and daughters) shall be worn at the amusement park.

Enclosed with this letter you will find a schedule, a general information list, and a Bethel check in sheet.

Bring your smiles & good cheer and join in for the biggest, best ever Idaho Job’s Daughter Shrine Hospital Caravan.  Oh, and don’t forget ……THINK SUNSHINE.

Bethel Guardians;
Every person attending Caravan is required to pay the $65 fee regardless of age.  You or a representative of your Bethel must have a current consent/medical release form filled out and in your possession for each person in your group.  You are required to complete the check-in sheet and prepare a Bethel Check for the total amount payable to Grand Guardian Council.  T-shirts, pins/charms will be distributed during the Check-in process at Lagoon Campground upon our arrival.  Lagoon passes will be passed out to an adult representative of the Bethel on Sunday at the Hospital visit.  Check with John Kinney at the Hospital.

ALL FEES MUST BE PAID BY BETHEL CHECK OR CASH---NO PERSONAL CHECKS.

 Drivers:
No one should proceed ahead of the Wagonmaster or lag behind.  Drive in a tight group with our headlights on.  You must stay with the Caravan and not make unscheduled stops, unless for emergency purposes.  Only adults are to drive…regardless of how old a Jobie is she CANNOT drive.  Remember that the Drivers Insurance is the Primary Insurance should you have an accident!  All Drivers and Chaperones must be CAV certified. Should you encounter problems along the way Tail-End-Charlie will assist you and inform the Wagonmaster.  As we pass locations where the Caravan is to be joined by other Vehicles they should fall in ahead of Tail-End-Charlie.  He will be watching for you, as will the Wagonmaster.

What to bring:
Sack lunch for Saturday.  Camping gear (sleeping bag, tent, pillow, camper, motor home), the campground has showers and bathrooms but you need to bring your own towels and toiletries.  Dress casual for the Caravan, Lagoon (Jobie appropriate) and the Campground.  Pack a bathing suit, there is a pool at Lagoon.  Remember to bring a dress for the Hospital tour on Sunday morning.  Spending money for treats and shopping is advisable.  Bring the pull-tabs that you have been saving (for the Hospital), or any other presentations you wish to make to the hospital (let the Wagonmaster (John Kinney) know who is making presentations). If you are a Shriner, bring your Fez!  Most of all bring your Smiles!!

Brigham City, Utah rest stop:
This is where the eastern and western Idaho contingents of our Caravan join.   Please be aware of the many vehicles entering and departing this parking lot.  We want everyone to be safe.  Drivers follow driving instructions so we arrive at the campground in an orderly, efficient and safe manner.  All larger rigs (motorhomes and trailers) must be together at the head of the Caravan departing the rest area.  The Grand Guardian, Associate Grand Guardian, Grand Bethel Honored Queen, and Miss Idaho Job’s Daughter will be behind the Wagonmaster then followed by the larger vehicles and then the rest of the vehicles.  See the Combined Idaho Caravan Information Below.

Lagoon Campground:
At the campground we are spread out over a wide area.  Please walk at the edge of the campsites, and be careful of vehicles.  The restrooms near our campsites are small so we will need to make use of the restrooms toward the front of the campground also.  Quiet hours are 11:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M.  The daughters need to be in their campsites and quiet during these hours or we will not be allowed back next year.  We need to be attentive to cleanup of our area and the restrooms.   We are a large group and Lagoon campground has some concerns over our size so we need to show the campground we are worthy of coming back again next year.  Our vehicles need to be parked in designated areas within the campground, and camping sites with a parking pass that will be given to you! When you register the Bethel I will need to know what site number you are in and how many vehicles you have with you. When all the Bethels are registered, Grand Guardian Barbara will assign 3 Bethels for each night. These Bethels are to help with setup and cleaning for the barbecue on Saturday and the meal Sunday.
